What qualifies as a dental emergency?

A dental emergency is any situation that requires immediate treatment to save a tooth, stop ongoing tissue bleeding, or alleviate severe pain. This includes severe toothache, knocked-out teeth, broken teeth, dental abscesses, uncontrolled bleeding, swelling of the face or gums, and trauma to teeth or jaw.

Can I get a same-day emergency appointment?

Yes! Every effort is made to see emergency patients the same day they call. For severe emergencies, an appointment can often be arranged within a few hours.

What should I do if my tooth is knocked out?

Time is critical! Pick up the tooth by the crown (not the root), gently rinse it with water if dirty, and try to place it back in the socket if possible. If you can't, keep it moist in milk or saliva. Call immediately — if treatment is received within an hour, there's a good chance the tooth can be saved.

How can I manage dental pain until my appointment?

Take over-the-counter painkillers as directed (ibuprofen or paracetamol). Apply a cold compress to the outside of your cheek to reduce swelling. Avoid very hot or cold foods. Rinse your mouth with warm salt water. However, these are temporary measures — you should see a dentist as soon as possible.

Do you see emergency patients who aren't registered with you?

Absolutely! You don't need to be a registered patient to receive emergency dental care. If you're in pain or experiencing a dental emergency, call and we'll help you.
